Estival the Bestival
Esther has a floppy larynx. What does this mean? It means that when at a certain angle she sounds slightly bunged up, but she should grow out of it and go on to live a normal life (and even become a celebrity https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/celebrities_childhood_floppy_larynx - Bob Monkhouse, who knew. #survivors). Larynx aside floppiness is being replaced with firmness.
Her head, sat atop a doughy, floating neck, no longer nervously bobs when she holds it up. Instead, it is under her complete and exacting control. Thanks to the creation of baby corner (wrong) she is increasingly able to sit and sprandle toys and when occasionally she over balances she can use those well hidden tummy muscles to right herself. Moreover, the roll which eludes her sister, even now, is perilously close to completion. Terrifyingly, she can complete it in the bath so we are now on full alert to avoid any Don't Look Now homages. And she has also reached the rotational stage of life, which I'd entirely forgetton happened with Nancy, where they spin themselves round in their cot unnoticed. I hope this is just early over enthusiasm and she remains a sedentary beast like Nancy was.
She has also got her guzzle on but like German royalty and japanese sushi perverts will only eat food off human flesh not Sheffield's finest. Attempts to feed anything with a spoon are met with rank indifference but when the same things are mashed into a pulp and adminstered by finger or thumb they are wolfed down without a second thought. Avocado is a particular favourite at the moment as is brocolli (tenderstem naturalment) and she is also gaining the necessary dexterity to mash said food into her mouth all by herself, albeit with slightly messy outcomes. Doubtless in a few weeks she will be a master of all she can eat.
Alas, for all this loveliness her sleeping ability seems to have decayed somewhat but hopefully as her tummy swells with solid food it will return, with desperate acclaim, to our lives. I thought the farming today section of my life would never return but I sense by Christmas, I will, once more, be an expert on milk prices, hedgerow conservation and wellington boots.
Oh and here are some of the finest photos of Esther ever taken. She is a beaut. Ding Dong.
